Bringing Compassion to the Margins
Our Story
Samaritan is the outreach ministry of On This Rock Group, founded by Dr. Nana Akua Antwi.
“Samaritan On The Rock was birthed in a time of prayer and intimacy with God, when the Lord invited me to step into the role of a Samaritan—drawing inspiration from the parable of the Good Samaritan.
My first assignment was to create a storehouse to assist families in Ghana raising children with disabilities. During prayer before a family trip to Ghana in August 2022, I kept hearing the name Nathaniel. Upon arriving in Ghana, we spent a few days at a resort in Akosombo. On our final morning, I heard Nathaniel’s name again in prayer, along with the word Baptist.
That same morning, due to a miscommunication with our driver, we were unexpectedly delayed at the resort. While waiting, I took my children to the playground, where a kind housekeeper named Grace approached my son and remarked how much he looked like her own son, who also had special needs and was the same age. To my astonishment, her son’s name was Nathaniel—and they were Baptists.
Grace took us to meet him at her hillside home. Though his living conditions were better than most disabled children in Ghana, they were still heartbreaking. Grace had to carry him on her back down a steep incline to reach our car. When I saw his joy at seeing his mother, my heart was overwhelmed with the love of God—he felt like my own.
After returning to the U.S., I couldn’t stop thinking about Nathaniel. In November 2022, the Lord reminded me of Hermann Gmeiner, the German founder of several orphanages in Ghana, and filled my heart with a vision to build homes for children with special needs. My personal journey of raising a son with a disability confirmed that calling. I initially partnered with an existing assisted living program for youth with disabilities until another organization took over. Then the Lord redirected my focus—toward the most vulnerable and often forgotten: disabled orphans in the slums of Ashaiman.”

“When I met Seth, a blind child abandoned and later renamed by a social worker, I was so touched. I could not walk away without taking action”
— Nana
What WE do
Samaritan on the Rock exists to bring practical hope, dignity, and the love of Christ to children with disabilities and their families in underserved communities. Our founder, Nana, travels to Ghana to visit orphanages, single mothers, and children in need—listening to their stories, encouraging caregivers, and identifying tangible ways to support their unique challenges.
Your invitation
You’re invited to partner with us as a Samaritan—investing in people for both time and eternity.
The dream to care for disabled and orphaned children began years ago, but God reignited it through a boy named Nathaniel in Ghana. Since then, I’ve seen how helping one child with compassion can change everything. My journey—as a mother, advocate, and servant—has taught me that these children are not just recipients of care; they are teachers of love, resilience, and faith.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…”
— Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
Every act of mercy is an act of worship. As Proverbs 19:17 reminds us: “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord…”
We invite you to join us—one child, one act of kindness, one life transformed at a time.
Will you lend your support to the Lord by contributing to this mission?
Stories of hope you can partner with
Your support can change lives.
Whether it’s a mobility device for Victor, medication for Mercy, or school fees for Jeffrey, every gift makes a difference.
-
Victor's Brave Steps
Seven-year-old Victor lives with cerebral palsy and is mostly blind, but his courage inspires everyone around him. His parents—Faustina and Wisdom—dream of getting him surgery and a gait trainer to help him walk. Your gift can help make that dream possible by providing Victor with the equipment and care he needs to take his next steps.
-
Seth's Smile
At Save Them Young Orphanage, Nana met Seth, a blind child named by the very social worker who rescued him. Though abandoned as an infant, Seth lit up with joy at the sound of his name. A simple toy that made music brought him delight—and reminded us that every child deserves to be known, loved, and celebrated. Help us give Seth the stability, care, and sensory tools that bring joy to his world.
-
Medication for Mercy
Mercy lives with cerebral palsy and experiences frequent muscle spasms that make daily life painful and difficult. With the right medication, her discomfort can be eased—but access is limited and costly. Help us provide Mercy with the medication she needs to move through life with greater comfort and peace.
-
Nathaniel's New Beginning
Nathaniel once lay alone in a dark room with no stimulation or companionship. Today, he attends a school for children with disabilities, has a wheelchair, and enjoys cartoons in a brighter home while his mother works. But without a ramp, she still carries him down the steps each day—something that’s getting harder as he grows. Help us build him a safe, permanent wheelchair ramp.
-
Jeffrey's Journey to School
Jeffrey is a bright, autistic child with a gentle spirit. But without access to the right school, he’s missing out on the therapy and support he needs to thrive. His father longs to give him more but simply can’t afford the cost of tuition. Help us send Jeffrey to school where he can grow and learn.
-
Cornelius's Great Needs
Cornelius is a sweet, bedridden child with kind eyes and a gentle presence. His daily needs are many—medication, basic supplies, safe housing, and equipment to ease his condition. Right now, his family is doing all they can with very little. Help us provide Cornelius with the care and essentials he needs to live with comfort and dignity.
-
Nicholas Needs a Home
Nicholas is a sweet, observant child whose future is full of possibility—but right now, he has no stable place to call home. A safe, nurturing environment could change everything for him. Help us provide Nicholas with a home where he can grow, rest, and belong.

Meet Mensah
Mensah is a joyful young boy living with cerebral palsy. Though he is an orphan, he’s currently being lovingly fostered by a caregiver who is doing her best to meet his needs. Mensah requires ongoing medication, and the financial strain can be heavy. Your support can help ease that burden—empowering more families to say “yes” to fostering children like him.
Past Projects:
Partnering with OAfrica
Under the name Samaritan’s Reach, our ministry partnered with OAfrica to serve children with disabilities in Ghana who had been abandoned or orphaned.
Together, we helped provide assisted living support through foster placements, medical supplies, and therapy services—restoring dignity and stability to those who would otherwise be forgotten. With the generous help of donors, we distributed diapers, medications, hygiene supplies, and daily essentials to children with cerebral palsy and other developmental challenges.
These past efforts laid the foundation for the ongoing work of Samaritan on the Rock, continuing our mission to bring hope, housing, and healing to the most vulnerable.
